PCoIP recognizes the available data transmission speed independently and runs the necessary adjustments of the protocol. Even though it is increasing the CPU usage on the remote host, PCoIP is also able to deal with multimedia data and graphics-intensive applications. That is being generated in real time depending on the activity. For a client it seems as if he´s watching a movie on the desktop. This means that the whole display content will never be transmitted. In doing so, only the regions of the display that are changed frame by frame are being transmitted. Afterwards the data is streamed onto the client. PCoIP transmits display pixel content by coding them onto an external host. This is the only way to achieve an optimum performance. With UDP no acknowledge occurs after the transmission of a data package in contrast to the TCP. The PC over IP technology is based on UDP (User Datagram Protocol) which is an alternative to TCP (Transmission Control Protocol). Its purpose is to transmit the display content via LAN and WAN.
